Genuine Industrial-Grade vs. Consumer-Grade

Genuine industrial grade flash memory products are designed and manufactured for industrial and military applications that require the highest degree of reliability. The authentic industrial grade flash memory products are built to endure severe operating environments such as extreme cold and hot temperatures, continuous vibration, high shock impact, intensive read-write cycles, etc. The industrial grade flash memory products feature vital benefits such as wear-leveling, write protection, error correction, sustained write speed, etc.. Such features are essential to industries that require a more robust digital storage option to ensure reliable and repeatable operations.

Consumer grade flash memory products are built with the much cheaper and less reliable controller chipset and flash memory. These consumer-grade memory products are not durable.  At the beginning the low pricing is very appealing but eventually the reliability problem will appear.

PCMCIA ATA Flash PC Card Compatibility List

Amtron, APRO, Pretec, and SMART Modular ATA Flash PC Cards are compatible with Western Digital (WD) / SiliconSystems SiliconDrive PC Cards.

[* SiliconSystems, Inc was acquired by Western Digital Corp in March 2009. Thus SiliconSystems brand name was replaced by WD after the acquisition.]

Amtron, APRO, and SMART Modular's auto-sensing design makes their ATA Flash PC Card an all-in-one product that envelopes the SiliconSystems SiliconDrive PC Cards including SSD-Pxxx(I)-30xx series, SSD-Pxxx(I)-31xx series, & SSD-Pxxx(I)-35xx series.

The letter (I) in the SiliconDrive part number SSD-Pxxx(I)-3xxx stands for "Industrial Wide Temperature Range, -40°C to +85°C".  Without the letter I, it means "Commercial (Standard) Temperature Range, 0°C to +70°C".
The corresponding Amtron part numbers are ATA-SUxxxxC, where C stands for Standard (Commercial) Temperature Range , 0°C to +70°C .
The corresponding APRO part numbers are SRAFCxxxx-HACSC-AA, where the S and C stands for Standard (Commercial) Temperature Range , 0°C to +70°C.

PCMCIA ATA Flash PC Card for Dassault Falcon, Gulfstream, etc. Airplanes / Jets

Amtron 1GB/2GB, APRO 1GB/2GB, and Pretec 1GB/2GB PCMCIA ATA Flash Memory PC Cards are compatible.

[The following Dassault Falcon specifications might also be applicable for Gulfstream & other aircrafts. Please refer to your aircraft technical manual for the pertinent specifications.]

Please read the following specifications for PCMCIA Memory PC Cards used on Dassault Falcon airplanes / jets.

Dassault Falcon recommends installing a 1GB or 2GB PCMCIA card at your earliest convenience, if your airplane is not equipped with one already.

-	Must have a memory capacity not greater than 2GB
-	Must be a Type I or Type II PCMCIA card (not Type III)
-	Must have an “extended” or “industrial” temperature rating (at least -25 to +75°C operating range)
-	Must be a “flash” card, which is completely solid state with no moving parts. Flash cards is also hot-swappable
-	Must have a transfer rate (read/write) > 2.0 MB/sec
